Maya Blu, born Miriam Adjei, is a Ghanaian Afrobeat sensation who has rapidly emerged as one of the promising talents in the industry. Known for her unique voice, versatility, and captivating stage presence, Maya Blu’s journey into music began from an unexpected discovery during a church rehearsal when she was only 15 years old.

Maya Blu started her creative journey as an actress, actively participating in school stage acts and performances. However, her passion for music took off when she accompanied a friend to a church rehearsal. As her friend struggled with a song, Maya stepped in to sing, impressing the pianist who encouraged her to explore her talent. This marked the inception of her musical career, leading her to perform at restaurants and live band events.

Her stage name, Maya Blu, is a combination of her native name “Maame Yaa” and her favorite color, Blue, reflecting her lively personality and creative identity.

Maya Blu’s debut song, “For You,” released in 2022 under Lynx Entertainment, marked her official entry into the music scene and gained her significant attention. Her time with Lynx provided a platform to grow her artistry through key collaborations and mentorship. Notably, her 2023 hit single “Sho” featuring Mr. Drew, propelled her further into the limelight, solidifying her status as a rising Afrobeat star.

During her time with Lynx Entertainment, Maya Blu drew inspiration from Richie Mensah, CEO of Lynx Entertainment, whom she described as an incredible mentor. She also admired Adina, another Lynx artist known for her exceptional vocals. Maya Blu participated in the MTN Hitmaker 2019 competition, making it to the top 12 and using the experience to refine her musical abilities.

Maya Blu’s relentless work ethic led her to release her debut EP, “Just Blu On It,” in 2023, a project that showcased her growth as an artist and further solidified her presence in the music scene. Her single “Talk Too Much” was accompanied by a visually impressive music video, which contributed to her growing popularity.

The song, released during a launch event at No 19 Bar & Restaurant in Accra, became available on streaming platforms like Beatsource and YouTube.

Her musical journey also included receiving a nomination for Best New Artiste at the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) 2024, where she was featured on the red carpet. Although she did not win the award, her nomination alone was a reflection of her rising influence within the industry.
