No grand entrance. No heavy-handed declarations. Just a young artist moving through the world with precision and purpose.
Diva Akoto may be a new name to some, but for those paying attention, she’s already established a clear identity: deliberate, bold, and unmistakably hers. The 22-year-old Kumasi creative, born Adwoa Serwaa and legally named Agyei Nancy Celestina, is a singer, songwriter, and poet.
She performs under the name Akoto, a reference to one of the appellations for “Serwaa,” her birth name. The choice is deliberate. Like much of her creativity, it reflects a personal history reenvisioned through sound.

Long before her debut tape, she was already finding her voice through a series of covers. In 2020, she recorded her first song: a cover of the late Ebony Reigns’ “Poison.” It was her first time in a recording studio, and though she kept it away for years, the decision to finally share it was both tender and symbolic.
Later that year, she shared visuals for her version of Fireboy DML’s Like I Do, giving fans a glimpse of her vocal ability and emotional depth. Step by step, she was building her confidence and shaping her sound.
In 2022, Diva Akoto continued to expand her musical reach with the release of her single You and Me, featuring rapper Medal233 and produced by Peewezel-cue. The track was made available for streaming on platforms like Apple Music and Soundcloud, marking another step in her journey.
Her debut project, 222: THE DIVATAPES, released November 15, 2024, is a compact offering of just three songs. But within that small frame, Akoto establishes a space for the full range of her inner world: its softness, its fire, and the stillness between both.
The project begins with 222, followed by Big D, a masterpiece that asserts her presence without ever raising its voice. The track’s visualizer, released later that month, extends that energy; minimal and ingrained in authenticity. Each song follows moves with intention, gradually peeling away her emotional layers rather than forcing them into view.
The final track, “WALK IT,” produced by Kwameflyte, closes the tape with quiet force.
While the tape may be her formal debut, Akoto’s creative life keeps flourishing. She was selected for the Black Girls Glow Koshka Residency in Kumasi in 2025; a program that elevates emerging women creatives across disciplines, art, music, and poetry. Her participation reflects her multidisciplinary approach, where writing and performance exist on the same spectrum.

In February 2025, she joined fellow artist Braabenk for a live performance at Hilitegh, adding her voice to Ghana’s growing music scene.
Akoto also performed at HOMESICK VOL. II: OBIAA ƐYƐ STAR at CeCAST, KNUST. Away from the stage, she builds digital intimacy through her series THE DIVA CONVERSATIONS: a quiet, direct dialogue between herself and the people following her journey.

She also hit the stage alongside fellow rising talents like Yaw Palmer, Acheampong Frimpong, Kuneli, and Bryan Stanley. Again, She expressed gratitude to PRJCT. kumasi for giving her the chance to work her magic in 2024, adding another memorable chapter to her list of live shows while connecting with audiences through live performances and building great networks.

The year before, in 2023, Akoto marked a new chapter in her career with a performance that signalled a fresh era. She took the stage at a major event, expressing immense appreciation to Guinness Ghana and Sabog Moore Eugene for the opportunity.
There’s nothing hurried in her story. Just make careful, creative decisions that add up over time.
